Yoga Foundations
Steps towards Well-being: Tuesdays @ 5:30 p.m & Sundays @ 8:00 a.m
Have you been curious about yoga? Or are you needing a foundational series that enhances
your former yoga experiences and forms of exercise? Are you seeking simple exercises that
will provide tangible benefits?
What is your relationship to stress and tension in your body?
Stress-inducing factors both around us as well as in our bodies are among the leading causes of
current world-wide health concerns (including heart disease, high blood pressure, skeletal
misalignment, excess body fat, insomnia, anxiety, and depression).
“I don’t have time to deal with this,” is a common response. Or we often trap ourselves in an
“all or nothing” mentality and find ourselves burned-out and injured.
The list of the benefits of yoga, breath practices and meditation are practically endless and
well-documented, but one of the most important benefit is its outstanding ability to decrease
the deleterious effects of stress.
The original purpose of Yoga is to bring not only flexibility and strength to the body, but also to
the mind. The body is carefully guided through a process of physical postures meant to tonify
the inner organs and strengthen the musco-skeletal system. These attributes are accompanied
by using breath-body movement coordination increasing awareness of the body itself and in-
turn enhancing concentration. Over time, Yoga brings a deeper understanding of how the mind
and body are connected. This awareness of self leads to healing.
Following ancient practices supported by more recent scientific, documented studies, this
workshop will introduce you to some of the powerful body/mind/spirit practices that will
enhance your well-being in a profound and lasting way.
Under the expert instruction of certified Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda Practitioner Melanie
Barclay, students will be guided through a workout designed to relax the nervous system,
calm the mind and create a foundation of health promoting longevity. Each student will learn
how to practice within their limits and how to take the benefits of yoga practice “off the mat”
and into daily life in a deeper, transformative way.
The attendee will learn time-tested tools to incorporate into life that feel good, enhances
awareness, and promotes healthier mind, body and spirit.
Along with description and demonstration this yoga practice includes breathing techniques and
tools to quiet the mind. Please bring a notebook, water bottle and yoga mat and wear
comfortable, movement-friendly clothes.
Please join Melanie at Halberg Chiropractic Clinic and experience these transformational
practices!
Yoga classes are $15 per class or 5 for $50
